harleypig.com email

Gmail in a browser ๐Ÿ’ป

Gmail on a computer, at gmail.com.

Heads up: this is the fussy one. Gmail's website can't simply "hold" an outside email account the way the phone app can โ€” Google took that option away. So we do it in two little pieces. It's not hard, just a few clicks.

Honest tip: if this feels like a lot, the easy paths are still open โ€” use the Gmail app on your phone, or just read your mail at webmail.harleypig.com (nothing to set up). Only keep going below if you really want your harleypig.com mail inside your existing Gmail on the computer.

Why the website is different

On the Gmail website, clicking your profile picture and choosing Add another account only adds another Google account โ€” it won't take your harleypig.com address. That's not you doing it wrong; Google simply removed the "check mail from an outside account" feature from the website. So instead we set up two small things: one so you can send as harleypig.com, and one so your harleypig.com mail shows up in your inbox.

Part A ยท Send as harleypig.com

Let Gmail send from your address

This lets you write a message and have it go out from your harleypig.com address, right inside Gmail.

  1. In Gmail, click the gear โš™๏ธ in the top-right, then See all settings.
  2. Click the Accounts and Import tab.
  3. Find Send mail as and click Add another email address.
  4. Put in your name and your full harleypig.com address (you@harleypig.com), then Next.
  5. Gmail asks for your outgoing (SMTP) server. Fill it in with the settings just below and click Add Account.
  6. Gmail sends a short confirmation code to your harleypig.com address. Read it at webmail.harleypig.com, then type the code in. Done โ€” when you write a new message you can now pick your harleypig.com address in the From line.
SMTP server mail.harleypig.com
Port 465  (SSL)  โ€” or 587 with TLS
Username your full email address
Password your new email password

If Gmail offers a choice, pick Secured connection using SSL. That pairs with port 465 above.

Part B ยท See your harleypig.com mail

Get it showing up in your inbox

Because the website can't pull in an outside account anymore, the reliable way to see your harleypig.com mail in Gmail is to have it forwarded there โ€” a copy of every message lands in your Gmail automatically.

Easiest: just ask me to turn on forwarding to your Gmail โ€” it takes me a minute on my end and there's nothing for you to set up. Tell me which Gmail address to send it to.

Prefer to do it yourself? Log in at webmail.harleypig.com, open Settings โ†’ Filters, and add a rule that redirects your mail to your Gmail address. If that looks fiddly, don't wrestle with it โ€” just ask me.

Honestly? The app or webmail is easier ๐Ÿ™‚

None of this is required. If the two parts above feel like too much, the Gmail app or webmail will get you there with a lot less fuss โ€” or call me and we'll set it up together.
