Bring your old emails back π₯
Load the copy you saved with Google Takeout into your email.
You only need this if you want your old messages back somewhere you can read them. It's the same for everyone β you do it right in your webmail.
Do this after the switch, once your
new email is working. Grab the Takeout download you saved before Friday
β it's a .zip file. Unzip it first;
inside is a file whose name ends in .mbox. That
.mbox file is the one you'll load in below.
Can't find the file? π
Whatever you're on, the
file's name starts with takeout- and it lands in your
Downloads. If you can't spot
it, try searching for takeout.
On a phone: open your Files app (it may be called βMy Filesβ) and tap Downloads. Or, in the browser you used, open its downloads list (the β arrow, or the β’β’β’/menu button) and tap the file there.
On a computer: open your Downloads folder. Or, in your browser, press Ctrl+J (Windows) or β+J (Mac) to see everything you've downloaded, and click the file.
Load them into your webmail
You do this right on the webmail site. It doesn't matter how you read your email day to day β everyone can get to webmail, so this is the one way that works for all of you. Nothing to install.
- Go to
webmail.harleypig.comand log in with your harleypig.com email and your new password. - Open your Inbox. Up in the top-right corner, tap the menu button (three lines β°, or three dots), then tap More, then Import. On a computer there's no menu button β just click More (the β’β’β’ button), then Import.
- Pick your
.mboxfile, then press Import. - Give it a minute β your old emails show up in your Inbox. That's it! π
Webmail won't take an .mbox bigger than
64 MB. If yours is over that, don't fight it β
send me the file and I'll load it for you.
Rather not? π
Honestly, importing can be a little fiddly, and there's no shame in skipping it. Send me the file you saved and I'll load your old email back in for you.
