Save your old emails 📦
Download a copy before the switch, so nothing gets lost.
Your old messages live in your current harleypig.com mailbox, and they don't come across to the new service. So if there are any you want to keep, grab a copy first with Google Takeout — Google's own free backup tool. It bundles all your mail into one file you can hang onto.
This only works before the switch on Friday, July 24. Once we flip over, the old emails are gone for good and there's no getting them back. Please don't leave it to the last minute.
Download a copy
You can do this right on your phone — it all happens on one web page. (If you happen to have a computer, it's a little easier there, since you'll be saving a file — but your phone works fine.) Just sign in to your harleypig.com account:
- Go to
takeout.google.com. Check that the little picture in the top-right corner is your harleypig.com account — if it isn't, switch to it. - Click Deselect all at the top. That clears everything so you only grab your email.
- Scroll down to Mail and check its box.
- Scroll to the very bottom and click Next step.
- Leave it set to Send download link via email and Export once, then click Create export.
- Google does the work and emails you a download link — this can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. Click it, download the file, and keep it somewhere safe. 🎉
You'll get a
.zip file — just hang onto it. After the switch, the
bring your old emails back guide walks you
through opening it.
Don't need them? 🙋
Not everyone wants their old email, and that's perfectly fine — you can skip this entirely. If you do want to keep it but this looks fiddly, just tell me before Friday and I'll save it for you.
